Travel Advisory: As of November 13, 2020, there is a travel advisory issued by the California Public Health Department recommending a 14 day quarantine after any travel out of state. https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Progra... Local public health departments are recommending no travel outside of the 9 Bay Area counties.
UPDATED 11/30/2020: We are in a serious surge of COVID with projected hospitalizations and ICU needs to hit maximum capacity by the end of the month.
Given this information, Berkeley Pediatrics recommends NOT TRAVELING during this holiday season. We CANNOT refer for COVID testing at Benioff Children's Oakland solely for travel purposes.
If you or anybody in your household has traveled out of state or by plane in the last 14 days, any visit scheduled during the 14 day window will need to be done either virtually via a telehealth visit (followed by a brief in person physical once your 14 day quarantine period is over) or rescheduled. A negative COVID test within the 14 days will not exempt you from this rule.
For college students who may be returning from school, we recommend that you start being more careful with exposures starting 2 weeks prior to return. If possible, consider getting tested at your school/community prior to travel. You will need to quarantine for 14 days after your return and consider repeat testing 5-7 days after your return.
