As a pediatric practice, we believe caring for children also means caring for the communities they grow up in. In that spirit, we stand in support of the National Shutdown on January 30, 2026. While our office will remain open to provide essential healthcare services to our patients and families, we are joining this day of collective action in meaningful ways as a practice. Our commitment is to continue showing up for children’s health while also standing with our community and the values of care, responsibility, and solidarity.

Pathogens have not changed, only "policies".    Berkeley Pediatrics does not anticipate any changes to our vaccine schedule or to the availability of vaccines to our patients. We stand by the American Academy of Pediatrics published vaccine schedule which is also supported by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the West Coast Health Alliance (WCHA).

UPDATE re: Bay Area Shelter in Place Order

We are updating you given the Bay Area counties’ newest Shelter in Place order effective in Berkeley on 12/6/2020.

Please be assured that Berkeley Pediatrics plans to remain open as a provider of essential medical services and will continue to be available to provide excellent medical care of your family.  We will continue to offer both in person visits under the essential business rule and telehealth visits for issues where it would be reasonable to do so.  Well child visits with vaccinations should not be delayed given the importance of staying protected against vaccine preventable diseases, maintenance of physical and emotional health, and assessment of normal development.  However, if you would like to convert your visit to a virtual visit followed by a brief in person physical exam to reduce exposure, please contact our office.

Over the last 9 months, we’ve been working extremely hard to put in place COVID-19 safety protocols that have been working well to keep everybody in our office safe.  (Please read the COVID safety protocol).  We are still seeing all patients with symptoms that could be related to COVID-19 as a virtual or a car visit—these patients are not entering our building.

Our community's COVID-19 infection rates, and therefore risk,  are at the highest since the beginning of the pandemic.  We urge our families to follow these orders by not traveling and not congregating with members out of your household.  Hand hygiene, wearings masks, and staying distanced and outside remain our best  methods for reducing COVID-19 infection.

We realize that all of you are physically tired and emotional exhausted from the stress of this pandemic (we know we are).  But now more than ever we have to stay strong and push through this latest surge as hope from vaccines and improved treatments is just around the corner.

We hope you stay well and safe,

The Providers and Staff of Berkeley Pediatrics
